Ralph Carfagno

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Ralph Carfagno returns to Lebanon Valley College as a softball assistant coach for the 2020 season. He will assist head coach Scot Adams and serve as a hitting instructor, working in all aspects of the game including player development, camps, and recruiting.

Carfagno spent the last three seasons at Elizabethtown College helping to move the program from seven wins and 29 losses in his first season to double-digit wins and a .500 squad the next two seasons. Carfagno was previously an assistant coach at LVC for 10 years, and while at the Valley, he was a hitting instructor, working with outfielders and infielders and served as the bench coach.

Carfagno was with LVC when the team won its first MAC Commonwealth Championship and earned its first-ever trip to the NCAA Regionals in 2008. Carfagno has coached LVC batters to five NCAA appearances and four conference titles, including three straight in 2013-2015. Nine Dutchmen batters have reached the 100-hit plateau under Carfagno's guidance, including then all-time hits leader Tessa Deardorff '15, career homerun, RBI, and doubles leader Allie Hartman '14, and three-time NFCA All-American Sammy Bost '15, who's also LVC's single-season and career hits leader, as well as the Dutchmen's all-time stolen base leader.

He has assisted the PA ASA by giving coaching seminars to recreational and school programs to help with player development and managing the overall coaching process.

During his last three years in the travel ball arena before joining LVC in 2005, his teams entered 27 tournaments, medaling 11 times and earning five championships. The teams' overall record during that period was 149-49.

Carfagno has played both fast and slow pitch softball at several different levels.
