A former Millersville assistant coach and player for West Chester’s nationally-ranked softball program, Erin Whitman takes over as Lebanon Valley head coach beginning this season.
As an assistant under Joey Lye, now the head coach at Division I Bucknell, Whitman helped lead the Flying Dutchmen to 25 wins and an appearance in the MAC Commonwealth Championship game a year ago. Sammy Bost earned CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-America honors as a senior and she joined teammate Lexi Windsor as NFCA All-Region selections in 2017.
Whitman helped lead the Marauders to their first-ever PSAC postseason appearance last spring. The team’s playoff run included a 28-win season and three victories over No. 12 West Chester; her alma mater. Prior to joining the Millersville staff, she served as head coach of the Central Pennsylvania Krunch 16 and under travel team.
As a senior at West Chester, Whitman led the team and ranked second in the PSAC with eight home runs, while her five triples in 2015 were tops among Rams and conference players. Whitman also drove in a team-high 47 runs and hit 13 doubles to go along with her 58 hits during her breakout campaign.
Whitman earned her bachelor of science from West Chester in professional studies with a minors in athletic coaching and health science in 2015.
