Biography

Established in 1950, historic Union Canal Tunnel Park includes 109 acres of meadows and woods surrounding the oldest transportation tunnel in the United States. The tunnel, built in 1827, is a National Historic Landmark that allows the Union Canal towpath to cut through Pansy Hill in the northern park of the park.

Since 2011, Lebanon Valley College cross country has called Lebanon's Union Canal Tunnel Park home. The fan-friendly loop course has two circuits for the women's 5K and three for the men's 8K. Both run along the picturesque Union Canal on each loop, before turning in for a dramatic finish between a natural chute of trees.

The course is in an easy-to-access location just off of Rt. 422 between the city of Lebanon and LVC's campus. The Lebanon Valley Mall, which can provide overflow parking during meets, is located just a few blocks south of the finish line, and there are dozens of dining options within a five-minute drive.
