Three Flying Dutchmen Receive Conference Weekly Honors

2/3/2026 11:01:00 AM

NEWTOWN, Pa. – Three Lebanon Valley College student-athletes from three teams were honored by the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) for their production during the past week of competition, as the conference office announced its weekly awards in a release on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

Junior guard Abbie Reed was recognized for her contributions to the Lebanon Valley College women's basketball team's past two victories, as she received the MAC Freedom Player of the Week award. Junior Rory Lieberman also earned MAC Track Athlete of the Week honors following his performance for LVC's men's indoor track and field team at the Penn State National Open. Additionally, sophomore Ava Matter was named the MAC Track Athlete of the Week after delivering an excellent effort for Lebanon Valley's women's indoor track and field team at the PLEX Shootout.

Reed played all 80 minutes to lead Lebanon Valley's women's basketball team to two conference wins with strong two-way performances. She totaled 31 points, 10 rebounds, six steals, two assists, and two blocks while shooting 47.8 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from three-point range. Reed opened the week with a career-high 19 points and seven rebounds in a 63-50 win over Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday, Jan. 28. The junior scored 10 points in the second half, including six in the decisive third quarter. She added 12 points, three rebounds, and three steals in a 45-32 defensive win at Misericordia University on Saturday, Jan. 31, as the Dutchmen limited the Cougars to just 32 points. This marks Reed's first career MAC Freedom Player of the Week award. The Flying Dutchmen have been presented with this honor in back-to-back weeks, as senior forward Brielle Reidinger was recognized on Tuesday, Jan. 27. LVC has received six conference weekly awards so far this season.

Lieberman captured the 5,000 meters at the Penn State National Open against a field dominated by Division I competitors, posting a school-record time of 14:43.09. He led for the final six laps and won the race by three seconds. His mark ranks 23rd nationally in Division III, fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, sixth in the AARTFC, and stands as the fastest time in the MAC this season. This is Lieberman's second weekly award of the campaign, as he was also honored on Tuesday, Jan. 20. The junior has now been selected as the MAC Track Athlete of the Week five times in his career with the men's indoor track and field team. Additionally, the Dutchmen have collected four conference weekly honors so far this winter.

Matter posted the conference's top 200-meter performance of the season at the PLEX Shootout, finishing second overall in a field of 42 with a time of 26.46 seconds. The mark ranks ninth in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Matter also led off Lebanon Valley's 4x200 relay team, which recorded an AARTFC-qualifying time of 1:51.17, ranking third in the MAC. This marks the second time Matter has earned the award in her career, as she garnered recognition from the conference on Jan. 20 as well. The Flying Dutchmen have been rewarded for their success so far during the campaign with four MAC weekly honors.
