NEWTOWN, Pa. – Five Lebanon Valley College student-athletes were recognized by the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) for their strong performances during this past week, as the conference office announced its weekly awards in a release on Tuesday.
Senior wide receiver
Jonathan Hannevig was named the MAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his contributions to the Lebanon Valley College football team's first win of the year. Junior
Jillian Fidler was also selected as the MAC Golfer of the Week for her stellar start to the fall. LVC's men's soccer team swept the MAC Freedom weekly honors following a pair of victories, as senior forward
Nathan Prex was chosen as the Offensive Player of the Week, and senior defender
Logan Hicks was listed as the Defensive Player of the Week. Additionally,
Colin Brusse earned MAC Freedom Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors for his efforts in Lebanon Valley's men's tennis team's first competition of the fall.
Hannevig made a game-changing play in Dutchmen Football's 37-13 win over FDU-Florham on Saturday, Sept. 13, blocking a punt that was returned for a touchdown. The senior's effort marked the third blocked kick of his career and gave the Dutchmen an early lead they never surrendered. This is the first conference weekly award Hannevig has received in his career, and it is the first presented to Lebanon Valley this season. Hannevig is also the first member of the Flying Dutchmen to be named the MAC Special Teams Player of the Week since kicker
Tim Kissinger on Nov. 18, 2024.
Fidler opened the season with a pair of top finishes for LVC's women's golf team, placing second at the Elizabethtown Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 9, before winning the Susquehanna Invitational on Saturday. She shot a 79 at the Hershey Country Club to finish runner-up in a 30-player field and then fired a career-best 71 to claim the Susquehanna title by three strokes over a 74-player field that included Division II competition. The junior's round of 71 set a new program record, surpassing the previous mark of 73. This is Fidler's first career MAC weekly award. The junior is the first member of the program to be selected as the MAC Golfer of the Week since
Emma Dissinger on April 19, 2022.
Prex broke Dutchmen Men's Soccer's career records for both goals and points in a two-win week. He scored the game-winner in a 2-0 victory over Gettysburg College on Wednesday, Sept. 10, and then added a goal and an assist in Saturday's 3-1 win at Cairn University to push his career totals to 33 goals and 85 points. Prex is currently fifth in Division III among active student-athletes with 85 career points. This marks Prex's third career conference weekly honor, as the forward was named the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week twice during the 2023 campaign. The senior is the first LVC player to be named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week since forward
Aaron Weitzel on Sept. 30, 2024.
Hicks anchored a defense that surrendered just one goal in two wins. The Dutchmen limited Gettysburg to three shots on goal in the shutout victory and held Cairn to two shots on target in a 3-1 win. This marks the second time Hicks has been selected as the MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week in his career, as the senior was also recognized on Sept. 30, 2024. The Dutchmen have now received three conference weekly awards this year, including back-to-back Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Brusse went 3-1 to finish second in the No. 4 singles flight for LVC's men's tennis team at the King's Invitational, a two-day event that concluded on Sunday, Sept. 14. He advanced to the final with wins over Penn College, Lycoming College, and Wilkes University before falling to Muhlenberg College. This is the first MAC Freedom weekly award that Brusse has received in his career, and it is the first that the Dutchmen have earned this fall. Brusse is the first LVC player to be chosen as the conference's Men's Tennis Player of the Week since
Ethan Luu on April 1.
