EDGEWATER, N.J. – The Lebanon Valley Women's Tennis team had a excellent spring season come to an end on Saturday afternoon as the second-seeded Dutchmen fell to top-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology 4-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom title match at the Edgewater Tennis Center.
The Ducks (11-7) took the doubles point with wins at on courts two and three. The first court went unfinished once the other two matches were completed. Stevens then won three of the six singles courts to clinch the match victory as the other three courts went unfinished.
Inside the Box
- Erika Badner and Catherine Stone dropped a tough 6-2 decision at number two doubles. The match was tied at two before the Ducks won the final four games to take the match.
- Katie Berra and Megan Martin also dropped a 6-2 decision at number three doubles. The Dutchmen won the first game before Stevens won the next three to take the lead and then finished strong to win the match.
- Sarah Kramer and Sarah McComas were in a battle at number one double with Stevens' top team holding a slim 4-3 lead.
- The Ducks won in straight sets at number six, number three, and number four singles. Kramer dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision at number six. Badner fell 6-2, 6-1 at number three. Martin was handed a 6-1, 6-3 defeat at number four.
- McComas, Stone, and Berra each had their singles matches go unfinished after dropping their first sets. Stone was leading 4-2 in her second set.
The Dutchmen season ends with a 12-9 overall record and 5-1 mark in conference play. LVC went 11-6 this spring including a six-match winning streak heading into the conference final.
