CLEVELAND, Ohio – Nikki Sellers and
Nicole Kratz each drove in a run for the third-seeded Lebanon Valley College Softball team, as the program dropped a 10-2 game in five innings to host and No. 17 Case Western Reserve University to begin regional competition in the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament on Thursday, May 15, at Mather Park.
Abby Reed started in the pitching circle for the Dutchmen (29-14) and retired the second-seeded Spartans (29-10) in order in the bottom of the first inning. The first-year pitcher registered a flyout to left fielder

Holly Grube was hit by a pitch. Kratz was then hit by a pitch when the bases were full with two outs, allowing Heard to score. The Spartans countered with an RBI single to left field in the bottom of the third, tying the game at 1-1.
Lebanon Valley generated some more traffic on the basepaths in the top of the fourth inning, as
Mackenzie Willey hit a one-out single to left field and Pattillo recorded a bunt single back to the pitcher before the runners advanced to second and third on a groundout. Case Western Reserve then scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth, going ahead 9-1 after an inning that included an RBI single, a pair of two-run singles, and an RBI double.
The Dutchmen continued to battle at the plate in the top of the fifth inning, making it a 9-2 contest. The frame began with a leadoff walk by Grube and a single down the left-field line by pinch-hitter
