Beard and Cohee Record Milestones in Dominant Victory

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Emily Beard and Bethany Cohee both recorded career milestones as the Lebanon Valley Women's Lacrosse team dominated FDU-Florham 23-3 in the final home regular season game of the year at Arnold Field on Wednesday afternoon. Beard scored her 200th career goal while Cohee recorded her 100th career assist.

The Dutchmen (12-4, 6-0 MAC Freedom) got off to a great start as Chloe Moser won the opening draw control and 30 seconds later Alyssa Wene eluded a pair of defenders and found the back of the net for the first goal of the game. Kyla Hebert made it 2-0 not even 90 seconds after that with a free position goal with 13:07 on the clock. Wene scored another unassisted goal and then Elizabeth Morgan added to the lead with an unassisted goal with 10:43 on the clock to make it 4-0 and force the Devils to call their first timeout of the game.

FDU-Florham was given a card, and the Dutchmen took advantage as Cohee scored off an assist by Katie DeWitt with 10 minutes left in the quarter. Nearly two minutes later, the Devils got on the scoreboard with a goal. After FDU was awarded possession on the following draw control, Moser caused a turnover, picked up the ground ball and led a counter attacker that ended with Beard scoring her first goal of the game off an assist by Molly Whisler. Wene had a pair of back-to-back goals late in the quarter to push the lead to 8-1. Beard assisted on the first goal and after winning the draw control, Wene scored again just 31 seconds later. The Dutchmen scored twice in the final 30 seconds starting with Cohee hitting Beard over the middle for a goal. The assist was the 100th of her career. Wene won the following draw and quickly ran up field before throwing a long pass to Cohee in front of the crease for the junior's second goal of the quarter.

LVC hit a 10-goal advantage on the first play of the second quarter as Wene scored her fourth unassisted goal of the game. Beard had a shot saved before Hebert found the back of the net for the second time to push the advantage to 12-1. The Devils cut the lead back down to 10 with a woman-up goal. Hebert answered with her third goal of the game off a great pass from Morgan over the middle. Beard gave the Dutchmen a 15-2 halftime lead with a pair of goals over the final two minutes. She scored her milestone 200th goal with right around two minutes remaining off another assist by Cohee. Whisler then found Beard on the final play of the half for Beard's fourth goal of the game.

The Dutchmen came out strong to start the second half as Morgan scored her second goal of the game and then assisted on Hebert's fourth in the first five minutes of the half. The Devils were able to score their third and final goal of the game midway through the quarter to cut the deficit to 17-3. LVC answered with a woman-up goal from Whisler 10 seconds after a card was given. Beard nearly scored in the final minute of the quarter but her free position shot was just kept out of the back of the net to keep the score 18-3 heading into the fourth quarter.

DeWitt started the fourth with her first goal of the game off an assist by Whisler on the first possession. The Dutchmen took advantage of another card by FDU Jenna Davis scored her fifth goal of the season off a pass by Cohee. Cohee added another assist to Whisler to increase the advantage to 21-3 with 10 minutes left on the clock. Two minutes later, Whisler found Wene open for her sixth goal of the game. Davis then scored a beautiful goal off an assist by Beard with just under five to play. The Dutchmen forced a couple of turnovers on FDU-Florham's final three possessions of the game to close out a 23-3 win.
