ANNVILLE, Pa. – Holly Grube and
Abby Reed delivered complete-game pitching performances for the Lebanon Valley College Softball team, leading the program to 2-1 and 4-0 victories over King's College on Sunday, April 13, at the LVC Softball Park.
Lebanon Valley hosted Senior Day on Sunday and recognized its three seniors before the doubleheader. The program honored

Erin Pattillo, and
Lexi Smith in a pregame ceremony.
Game One
Grube pitched for the Dutchmen (16-10, 8-1 MAC Freedom) and began the day with a shutout top of the first inning, notching the final two outs with a double play. Lebanon Valley then opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, taking an early 1-0 lead over the Monarchs (10-17, 1-6 MAC Freedom).
Megan Heard led off the frame with a walk and moved into scoring position with a stolen base.
Maddy Gronback followed this with a two-out RBI single to right field, driving in Heard.
Grube tossed another scoreless inning for LVC in the top of the second, retiring the side in order with a frame that included two groundouts to Heard at shortstop and a popout to Heard. Grube also posted a zero against King's in the top of the third inning, registering another groundout to Heard before two groundouts to second baseman
Emily Mitchell. The first-year pitcher continued her strong start for the Flying Dutchmen in the top of the fourth, blanking the opposition with a popout to Heard before two popouts that were caught by third baseman
Nicole Kratz.
Grube delivered another 1-2-3 inning for Lebanon Valley in the top of the fifth, logging a popout to Heard at shortstop, a groundout that the pitcher fielded herself, and a groundout to Mitchell at second base. The Dutchmen added a run in the bottom half of the fifth inning, taking a 2-0 advantage. Smith reached base via a one-out walk before crossing the plate on Grube's RBI double to left-center field.
LVC maintained its two-run lead in the top of the sixth inning when Grube notched the third out on a grounder to Heard, stranding a runner at second base. King's then got on the board in the top of the seventh, narrowing the score to 2-1 on an RBI fielder's choice to second base. Grube proceeded to record the final out with a groundout to Mitchell at second, securing the 2-1 victory for the Dutchmen.

- Grube hit a double to extend her hitting streak to 11 games while driving in a run. In the pitching circle, the first-year earned her eighth win of the season with a complete-game performance in which she didn't allow an earned run.
- Gronback tallied a base hit, a walk, and an RBI.
- Heard had a game-high two walks to match a career-high while scoring a run for the third contest in a row. The junior also stole a base.

Game Two
Reed was the pitcher for Lebanon Valley (17-10, 9-1 MAC Freedom) and posted a zero against King's (10-18, 1-7 MAC Freedom) in the top of the first inning, picking up a strikeout in the process. Reed also delivered a scoreless frame in the top of the second, striking out two more batters and tallying the third out with a groundout to Heard at shortstop. The Dutchmen then struck first in the bottom of the second, taking a 1-0 lead. Kratz got into scoring position with one out on a double to left-center field before scoring on
Bella Mackison's RBI double to left-center field.
Reed retired the Monarchs in order in the top of the third inning, catching a popout herself before a popout to Grube at second base and a flyout to Pattillo in left field. Lebanon Valley followed this by adding two more runs in the bottom of the third, extending its advantage to 3-0. Heard got into scoring position with a single to center field and a stolen base before later crossing the plate on Grube's two-out RBI single to center. Gronback then hit an RBI double to left-center field, knocking in Grube.
Back in the pitching circle, Reed blanked the opposition in the top of the fourth, registering the third out with a groundout to Kratz at third base. Reed also kept King's off the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning, recording the last two outs of the frame with flyouts to Willey in center field. In the top of the sixth, Reed delivered a 1-2-3 inning with a flyout to Willey in left-center field, a flyout to Pattillo in left field, and a popout to Grube at second base.
The Flying Dutchmen tacked on an insurance run in the bottom half of the sixth, making it a 4-0 ballgame. Krtaz reached base on a fielder's choice to shortstop and advanced to second after an error on the play. Mackison followed this with an RBI double to center field, driving in Kratz. Reed then secured Lebanon Valley's 4-0 victory in the top of the seventh inning, notching the final out with a popout to Grube at second base.
Inside the Box Score
- Reed pitched a complete-game shutout to earn her sixth win of the year, striking out three batters in the process.
- Mackison tied a game-high and season-high two hits with a game-high two doubles, which also matched a season-high. The first-year had a game-high two RBIs as well, tying a season-high. This marked the fifth consecutive game that Mackison has tallied a hit and an RBI.
- Grube recorded a hit to extend her hitting streak to 12, an RBI for the third straight game, and a run scored.

The Dutchmen will return to action on Tuesday, April 15, when the club will travel to take on Wilkes University in a doubleheader at the Ralston Athletic Complex in Edwardsville, Pennsylvania. The first matchup is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
