Softball Sweeps Lycoming Behind Craig Walk-off Hit

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Julia Craig gave the Lebanon Valley softball team a sweep of Lycoming College on Sunday with a walk-off hit in a 2-1 game one victory. Erin Sinatra shut down the Warriors for a 1-0 victory in the nightcap.

Game One
The Dutchmen got on the board in the first inning with a run on three hits. Lexi Smith had an infield single to the shortstop. She then stole second and advanced to third as the throw went into centerfield. Craig knocked in Smith with a single through the right side. Megan Heard had a two-out single that put runners on first and second but the Warriors were able to get out of the inning. Jordan Walter retired the first eight Lycoming hitters before a pair of two-out singles in the third inning. She got out of the jam with a grounder back to herself.

Erin Pattillo had a leadoff double in the second and Lindsey McCurdy doubled in the third, but both were stranded on the base paths. Katie Muller and Dani Holmes had two-out singles in the fourth but once again the Warriors were able to get out of the inning. Lycoming manufactured a run in the fifth after a lead-off hit-by-pitch. The runner was sacrificed over to second and then a grounder to first gave LVC two outs. Claire Alexander hit a triple to left center to plate the tying run before Walter got a grounder to first for the final out of the inning.

The Dutchmen put runners on second and third with one out in the sixth on a Nikki Sellers single and another Pattillo double. Lycoming got out of the jam with a short fly to left and a fly ball down the right field line. The Warriors started the seventh with a leadoff single and a sacrifice bunt. Walter got a line drive to left and then a grounder to second to get out of the inning. Sam Burns began the bottom of the inning with an infield single down the third baseline. Smith dropped down a bunt that was misplayed by the third baseman and Burns made her way to third as no one covered the bag. Craig then singled up the middle to give LVC a thrilling win.
