Walter Selected as MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week

4/1/2024 2:04:00 PM

NEWTOWN, Pa. – Senior pitcher Jordan Walter was honored after dominant performances in two victories for the Lebanon Valley College softball team this past week, as the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) office announced in a release on Monday, that she was recognized as the MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week.

Walter pitched a pair of shutouts to lead the Dutchmen to a 4-0 week in a pair of conference road games. She began the week with a big three-hit shutout in a 1-0 victory at DeSales in which LVC scored the lone run of the game in the third inning. Walter struck out two and walked just one hitter while keeping the ball on the infield. Just five balls reached the outfield grass all game and the Bulldogs had just one runner reach third base safely. The senior then struck out five and scattered six hits in a 7-0 shutout victory at FDU-Florham in LVC's final game of the week. Once again Walter did an excellent job keeping the ball confined to the infield with nine batted balls reaching the outfield in 28 plate appearances. Walter had 13 ground ball outs and two flyouts.

Walter was presented with her sixth career weekly conference award, after being named the MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week twice in 2022 and three times last spring. The senior is the second member of the Dutchmen to be recognized this year, as Erin Sinatra was named the MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week on March 11.

Walter and the Flying Dutchmen will return to action at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, as the club will host Franklin & Marshall College in a doubleheader at LVC Softball Park.
