MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Lebanon Valley women's tennis team saw their amazing season come to an end on Saturday morning with a tough 5-0 defeat to fourth-ranked Middlebury College in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at the Proctor Tennis Center.
The host Panthers (15-3) won all three doubles matches and then earned wins at number six and number three singles to clinch the match victory. LVC (17-4) played the highly ranked national title contenders tough in the defeat.
Madison Poladian and
Eliana Shenk dropped an 8-0 decision at number three doubles.
Nicole Honrade and
Jenna Miner were able to record a point at second doubles with an 8-1 defeat.
Livia Jackson and
Meredith Haas were the final court to finish in doubles with an 8-0 defeat at number one. Miner and Haas were dealt hard-fought 6-0, 6-0 defeats in singles play to conclude the season. The other four singles matches went unfinished with the Panthers winning the first set of all four.
The Dutchmen concluded one of the best seasons in program history with the program's first NCAA Tournament victory and their fourth conference title. LVC had an impressive .735 winning percentage in singles during duals and a .698 percentage in doubles. The Dutchmen were 17-4 and undefeated at home with a 9-0 record at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
