WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley softball team dropped a pair of close games to King's (Pa.) in MAC Crossover action on Tuesday afternoon. LVC dropped the two games by 6-3 and 3-1 scores respectively. The Dutchmen fall to 11-11 on the year while the Monarchs now sit at 16-10.
The Monarchs would kick off the scoring in game one right away in the bottom of the first inning on a single to center field off the bat of Briggs. King's would strand two runners in the inning but grabbed the quick 1-0 lead. The Dutchmen would get the run back in the top of the third. With two outs,
Jen Kaufman walked and would score all the way from first on a Tori Hunayra triple to right field to tie the game 1-1.
In the fourth, the Dutchmen would grab their first lead of the contest. With the bases loaded,
Lia D'Angelo would have one of the more impressive at-bats anyone will have this season as she eventually singled home
Jessica Truitt on the 18th pitch of the AB. LVC would be unable to tack any more runs on as they leave the bases loaded but hold a 2-1 lead at the halfway point.
In the bottom half of the fifth, King's would retake the lead scoring a pair of runs on three hits to grab a 3-2 advantage. The Monarchs would push their lead out even more in the sixth when four hits led to three runs to give King's the 6-2 lead with the Dutchmen down to their last at-bat. The Dutchmen would get one run back in the seventh and would bring the eventual tying run to the plate but would come up short as they fell 6-3 in the opener.
Inside The Numbers
- Tori Hunyara and Jessica Truitt led the LVC offense with two hits apiece. Truitt added a double while Hunyara recorded an RBI-triple.
- Krouse led the Monarch offense going 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs, 2 RBI, and two stolen bases.
- The Dutchmen struggled to capitalize with runners on base as they left eight runners on in game one.
