How It Happened
SALISBURY, Md. – Lebanon Valley's historic season came to a close this afternoon when the Flying Dutchmen fell to No. 7 Salisbury by a score of 16-3 in the Second Round of the 2019 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament. LVC ended its magical 2019 season with a 12-8 overall record, while the Sea Gulls moved to 17-3 and advanced to next week's Regional Semifinal.

Turnovers were the story early on for both teams, as each defense wasn't allowing many good clear attempts, keeping the game close. At 27:56, Salisbury's Emma Skoglund broke the 0-0 tie with her 43rd goal of the season, followed by Gianna Demato's 36th of 2019 at 22:36. LVC continued to struggle to find its groove in the first half, and unfortunately, the Sea Gulls started to find theirs, as they netted four more goals to go up 6-0 with 6:59 left in the opening half.

After corralling the next draw control, Makenzie Kelley got the Dutchmen on the board with an unassisted goal at 6:31, but Salisbury got it back with 5:15 remaining. LVC stayed within striking distance in the final minutes of the first half, as Brittany Hathaway scored her 45th goal of the season with 3:33 left, but the Sea Gulls' Courtney Fegan found the back of the net with just 1:13 remaining, giving the home team an 8-2 lead heading into the second half.

Salisbury netted five straight to open up the second half to pull away from the Dutchmen and shut the door on any type of comeback. Veronica Venezia found the back of the net with 9:45 left on the clock, but it wasn't enough, as the No. 7 team in the country was too strong for LVC and went on to win 16-3.
