How It Happened
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Muhlenberg jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first 15 minutes of action and Lebanon Valley was unable to dig out of the hole, falling to the Mules by a 12-7 score on Thursday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action. The Dutchmen fell to 3-5, while Muhlenberg improved to 4-2.
 
The Mules began with four unassisted goals in the first 13:39 of action and followed it with an up-goal to go ahead 5-0. Veronica Venezia got LVC on the board at 5:59 with an unassisted tally, but Muhlenberg answered with a goal with 2:03 left in the first. With just over a minute remaining, Brittany Hathway scored her 14th of the season to cut the deficit to four at 6-2 heading into the second half.
 
Julia Gabriel made it a three-goal game with her unassisted goal just under four minutes into the second, but the Mules netted two consecutive goals to go up by five at 8-3 with 24:13 remaining. Later, with 8:12 to go and the Dutchmen down 11-5, Makenzie Kelley found the back of the net for her 19th of the season, followed by Venezia's second of the day at 5:52, making it a four-goal deficit at 11-7, but the Mules scored another up-goal with 2:27 to go and LVC ran out of time for a potential comeback bid.
 
Inside the Numbers
 - Venezia scored two goals on five shots and controlled two draws.
 - Hathway added two goals on two shots on goal.
 - Kelley had one goal and a pair of ground balls.
 - Hannah Oliveras made eight saves in net and added five ground balls.
 - Morgan Ernst scooped up four ground balls on defense and added a caused turnover.
 - Jen Eck controlled a game-high seven draws and caused a team-high three tunrovers.
 - Muhlenberg's Victoria Friedel scored three goals and added an assist to go along with four ground balls and four draw controls.
 - The Mules held the edge in shots (30-15) and shots on goal (20-10).
 - The Dutchmen went 17-for-21 in clears and Muhlenberg was 16-for-21.
 - LVC led in total draw controls at 11-10.
 
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen begin MAC Commonwealth action on Wednesday, March 27th when LVC hosts Widener at Arnold Field at 7 p.m.
