How It Happened
A close game in the early going turned sloppy and got away from Lebanon Valley in the team's 8-3 loss to Juniata in the opening contest of a non-conference, regular season-ending doubleheader at the LVC Softball Park on Tuesday afternoon, May 1.
After the Eagles (8-25-1) struck first with a lone run in the top of the second inning, the Flying Dutchmen (17-14) drew even in the bottom of the frame thanks to
Robin Feaster's sacrifice fly to center field that plated
Rylee Shockley.
Things took a down turn in the top of the third when Juniata took advantage of a pair of LVC errors to go ahead 4-1 before tacking on three more insurance runs in the top of the fourth.
Lebanon Valley showed some life in the bottom of the fourth when
Mackenzie Hasenauer's RBI ground ball allowed
Sam Weaver to come across before
Savannah Toth's fifth-inning sac fly drove in
Annie McClain to cut the deficit to 7-3.
That's as close as the Dutchmen would get, however, as the visitors added an insurance run in the top of the sixth. LVC moved two runners into scoring position in the bottom of the seventh but was unable to push either of them across.

How It Happened
Lexi Windsor shined in Lebanon Valley's 2-1 victory in the second outing of a non-conference doubleheader against Juniata on Tuesday afternoon.
The hurler threw just 77 pitches in securing the low-scoring victory for the Flying Dutchmen (18-14) in the squad's regular season finale and got just enough run support from her offense to send LVC into the postseason on a high note.
The Eagles (8-26-1) used three consecutive singles to score the game's first run in the top of the second inning. Windsor and the Dutchmen defense would allow just two base knocks the rest of the way.
Savannah Toth sparked an LVC charge in the bottom of the fourth with a one-out single up the middle.
Madison Watson followed with a double over the head of Juniata's center fielder before
Rylee Shockley's sac fly to center field allowed Toth to come home and tie things up. The Dutchmen grabbed the lead when
Robin Feaster singled up the middle with two away and Watson plated from second base.
Windsor retired the visitors in order in the top of the fifth and sixth inning, respectively, before shaking off a Juniata single in the top of the seventh with a strike out and a ground out to
Annie McClain at shortstop to end the game.
