How It Happened
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Lebanon Valley outscored Stevenson 7-3 in the first half en route to a big 10-6 victory on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth women's lacrosse action. The Dutchmen won their third straight and jumped to 9-4, 4-1 MACC, while the Mustangs dropped to 5-8, 3-2 MACC.
Just under nine minutes into action,
Brenna O'Neill netted the game's first goal, an unassisted tally, at 22:17 to give LVC an early 1-0 lead. Stevenson's Jamie Bittner tied things up just 11 seconds later, but from there, the Dutchmen scored four consecutive goals to make it a 5-1 contest.
Veronica Venezia netted back-to-back scores at 21:12 and 20:34, followed by two goals from
Jaclyn Little at 19:51 and 17:04.
The Mustangs stopped the bleeding momentarily when Mallory Davila found the back of the net at 16:20 to bring the score to 5-2, but LVC again responded when
Makenzie Kelley scored her 46th goal of the season and Venezia then netted her 25th of the year to make it 7-2. Stevenson got one back at 10:34, but the Dutchmen still went into halftime with a comfortable lead at 7-3.
Coming out of the break, the Mustangs came to within three at 7-4 with a goal by Carly Bowes at 28:22, but at 25:19, LVC went back up by three thanks to O'Neill's up-goal at 25:19 off an assist from Kelley. Two consecutive tallies by Stevenson at 18:57 and 9:13, respectively, made it a two-goal game, but
Emma Jones broke through and scored her 50th goal of the season at 8:01, and Kelley then found the back of the net at 6:17 to put the game out of reach and give LVC a huge 10-6 win.
