How It Happened
Lebanon Valley was shut out in a 3-0 loss to Widener in the opening game of a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
The Flying Dutchmen (22-13, 9-6 MAC Commonwealth) managed four hits but were unable to push any runners across. The Pride (23-8, 10-3 MAC Commonwealth) recorded just five hits but were aided by three walks, a pair of LVC errors, and a Katie Sterling solo home run.
Sterling got the scoring started for the home team with a sacrifice fly to center field that drove in Jamie Gosselin in the bottom of the third inning. Sterling's solo shot made it 2-0 Widener in the sixth and the Pride added an insurance run on an error later in the frame.

- With no run support to speak of,
Maddie Abbot allowed just five hits and a pair of earned runs in suffering the loss. She walked three batters and struck out five more.
- Alexis Schengrund gave up just four hits in earning the complete-game shutout victory. She got Dutchmen batters to fly out on 15 of the team's 21 outs.

How It Happened
Haley Christensen was outstanding in leading Lebanon Valley to a 7-1 victory over MAC Commonwealth rival Widener in the second game of a doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
The Flying Dutchmen (23-13, 10-6 MAC Commonwealth) scored early and often in the nightcap, with Christensen bookending the run total. Her second-inning, RBI double down the left field line drove in
Savannah Toth and
Elaine Gross to make it 2-0 LVC in the early going.
With the Dutchmen leading 5-0 in the sixth stanza, she put an exclamation point on the team's scoring with a two-run home run to center field that also plated
Alissa Robinson.
Natalya Sizdahkhani's RBI groundout that scored Robinson made it 3-0 LVC in the third frame, while
Annie McClain's bunt single in the fourth drove in the speedy
Rayanne Hawk to add to the Dutchmen advantage.
A Widener error allowed
Rachel Costantini to score an unearned run in the sixth before Christensen's bomb put the game out of reach for good.

Lexi Windsor was solid in picking up her ninth win of the season for LVC. She scattered six hits and surrendered just one run to go along with five strikeouts.

Maddie Abbot spelled Windsor in the seventh and got the game's final two outs, one of which came via strikeout.
- The Dutchmen handed Widener starter Ally Horvath just her third loss of the spring. She gave up four runs on seven hits in 4.2 innings of work.
