How It Happened
Lebanon Valley scored three runs in the first inning, Sammy Bost set the program record for career stolen bases, and Maddie Abbot did the rest in the team's 3-1 victory over MAC Commonwealth rival Alvernia in the opening contest of a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

Sammy Bost got things started for the Flying Dutchmen (12-3, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth) with a lead-off bunt single in the bottom of the first. She proceeded to swipe second base and after advancing to third on a Savannah Toth fly out, Lexi Windsor brought her across with a single to left field. Elaine Gross kept things rolling with an RBI triple that plated Windsor and Kate Whelski made it 3-0 with a two-out single up the middle that drove in Gross.

Abbot shined inside the circle, giving up next to nothing to the Crusaders (7-6, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) through four innings. Alvernia got on the board by taking advantage of a pair of LVC errors in the top of the fifth but Abbot held strong and struck out Emily Carmella to end the inning and strand a runner on third base.

How It Happened
Lebanon Valley held on for a 2-1 victory over MAC Commonwealth rival Alvernia in the closing contest of a conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

The Flying Dutchmen (13-3, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth) and Crusaders (7-7, 0-4 MAC Commonwealth) combined for 17 hits but it was a key defensive play that proved the difference in allowing LVC to earn the sweep.

Leading 2-1 in the top of the sixth, Lexi Windsor found herself in a bit of a jam when the visitors loaded the bases thanks to a pair of singles and a walk. With one away, the pitcher teamed up with catcher Savannah Toth and Haley Christensen at first base to turn a run-saving 1-2-3 ground-rule double play. Riley Shield hit a hard chopper to Windsor who immediately threw home for the out before Toth finished off the defensive gem by connecting with Christensen at first to preserve the one-run lead.

Windsor worked out of trouble again in the seventh when she shook off a wild pitch that moved Alvernia's Bernadette Carey into scoring position and got JoAnnah Lim and Alex Maher to ground out to end the game.

Toth put the Dutchmen on the board in the third inning when she hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Annie McClain to jot home from third base. LVC added what proved to be the game-winning run in the next frame when McClain came through with a two-out, RBI single to center field that scored Kate Whelski.

Carey scored the Crusaders' lone run when Lim singled to right field before advancing to third base on a throwing error in the fifth stanza. Windsor proved game and got Emily Carmella to ground out to end the threat and strand Carey at third.

- Lexi Windsor worked hard in earning her fourth win of the season. She threw a complete game and scattered eight hits while surrendering no earned runs.
- Brittany Brown turned in a solid outing for Alvernia, allowing one earned run on nine hits and a walk in six innings of work.
