How It HappenedLebanon Valley hung on late in the second half to edge Susquehanne 14-11 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Arnold Field. The Dutchmen evened their record to 4-4, while the Crusaders fell to 3-5.
The opening half was a back-and-forth affair as LVC jumped out to a 2-0 led quickly, only to see Susquehanna score three straight and take a 3-2 advantage with 23:54 left in the first. The Dutchmen responded with a goal from
Tori Kuntz, followed by another from
Sam Boyce and Kuntz added another at 16:16 to give LVC a 5-3 lead.
With 6:18 remaining in the first,
Emma Jones added her second goal of the half to make it 7-5 Dutchmen, however the Crusaders' Annie McElaney scored with 1:37 left and Brooke Klair found the back of the net with just two seconds left and the score was tied at 30 minutes of action.
LVC opened the second half with three straight goals (one from Kuntz and two from Boyce) to make it a 10-7 game with 22:10 to go. Susquehanna, however, responded with three consecutive goals of its own to tie it up at 10-10 with 12:21 left. From there,
Emma Jones took over and scored at 9:19, while
Alyse Bingham put LVC up by two goals at 12-10 with 6:37. Less than a minute later, Jones scored her fourth of the game and after the Crusaders scored at 4:57 to make it 13-11, Jones added another for good measure with just one tick left on the clock, as the Dutchmen held on for the victory.
Inside the Numbers - Jones and Boyce each finished with five goals.
- Kuntz registered three goals, while Bingham added one.
- Kuntz and Jones each picked up three ground balls and Kuntz caused three turnovers.

Emily Moatz was a force on the defensive side, causing a game-high six turnovers. She added five draw controls for LVC.
- Jones won a game-high seven draw controls and was 2-for-2 from the free position.
- For Susquehanna, McElaney had five goals while Caroline Rabiecki added three. Becky McHugh assisted on five goals.
- As a team, LVC led in shots on goal (29-16), ground balls (17-12) and draw controls (17-9).

Shelby Morris was solid in net and earned her fourth win of the season. She made five saves and picked up a game-high four ground balls.
- For the Crusaders, Alyssa Rothman suffered the loss despite making 15 saves.
Who's Next?LVC's non-conference portion of its schedule is over and the Dutchmen now jump into MAC Commonwealth action for the remainder of the regular season. LVC starts by hosting Hood on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
