How It HappenedAdrian scored three runs in the seventh inning and Lebanon Valley couldn't complete the late-game comeback in the team's 5-3 loss in Clermont, Fla. on Monday morning.
The Bulldogs (4-0) got on the board in the top of the first when a leadoff walk and fielding mistake proved costly for LVC (0-2) as an error and ensuing sacrifice fly made it 2-0 Adrian to begin the game.
The Dutchmen cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the stanza when a leadoff single and Bulldog error allowed for a double steal by
Tessa Deardorff and
Kim Ortiz-Marrero that plated Deardorff. The Dutchmen tied the score at 2-2 when
Haley Christensen's double to left center drove in
Kelli Valle in the bottom of the fourth.
Both squads left runners on base in each of the next two innings before Adrian broke through when Kelsey Meyer hit a solo homerun over the left centerfield fence in the sixth. A walk and a wild pitch aided the Bulldogs in scoring two more and LVC was forced to play from behind in the final stanza.
An Ortiz-Marrero double to left field scored Deardorff but that's all the offense the Dutchmen could muster as three strikeouts in the seventh ended the game.

Holly Langdon (0-1) got the start for LVC and went 6.0 innings inside the circle, scattering six hits and allowing four runs and two walks.

- Adrian's Kaitlin Lock (1-0) got the complete game victory. She allowed two earned runs on eight hits and struck out nine batters.
