READING, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley College baseball team suffered an 18-1 rout at the hands of Albright College Friday in the first game of a three-game Commonwealth Conference series.
The Dutchmen (9-18, 0-7 CC) will host the Lions (11-14, 4-3 CC) for a doubleheader on Saturday.
Albright brought out the lumber, knocking out 23 hits and capitalizing on four LVC errors as they scored in every inning but the fourth. Three Lions - Kyle Wenrich, Jeff Kulp, and Derek Althouse - had three RBI, and Kulp, Chad Mackey, and Shane Stein each scored three runs apiece.
Mike Snyder took the loss for LVC, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing six runs, just one earned. Travis Smart and Josh Muscalus split relief duties. Casey Lawrence went the distance for Albright to earn the win.
LVC's lone run came in the ninth as Mark Mehalko grounded out to short to score Joe Soupik.
LVC and Albright will meet for a doubleheader Saturday at noon at McGill Field on Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Day.
