ANNVILLE, Pa.
- The Lebanon Valley College softball team showed no signs of rust after nearly two weeks off, sweeping a doubleheader over Ursinus College, 2-1 and 2-0, at the LVC Softball Park on Tuesday.

The Dutchmen (6-5) received strong pitching performances from freshmen Laura Snyder and Val Malizzia, who both hurled complete games to shut down the Bears (7-4).

Snyder put together a fantastic three-hit, 10-strikeout performance in game one, while Malizzia twirled a five-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts in the nightcap. Both pitchers improved to 3-1.

The hero of game one, however, was Meghan Donoghue, whose walk-off RBI single to center field broke a 1-1 tie and won game one for the Dutchmen.

The Dutchmen put the first run on the board when Katie DeJulio hit a ball that was misplayed by the third baseman, allowing Chelsea Artz to score in the bottom of the fifth. Ursinus answered in the sixth with Jamie Miles' RBI single to left to tie the game.

After Snyder retired the side in the top of the seventh, the Dutchmen started with Kristen Uhas' walk, and Jess Salisbury put down a sacrifice bunt but reached on a dropped throw. With two on and none out, DeJulio advanced the runners with her own sac bunt, and Allie Davies grounded out for the second out. With two gone, Donoghue slammed a single into center, plating Uhas for the walk-off win.

Game two was another pitchers dual, but LVC got on the board in the third thanks to DeJulio's RBI single to right. The Dutchmen added an insurance run in the fourth with Linley Eberhart's double to score Artz, but they wouldn't need it as Malizzia allowed just two baserunners over the final three innings.

LVC plays again Wednesday, hosting Gettysburg College for two at 3 p.m.
