Baseball Falls At Frostburg State, 4-1

FROSTBURG, Md.
- Lebanon Valley College was held to five hits as it dropped its seventh in a row, 4-1, at Frostburg State University on Thursday.

The Dutchmen (2-7) put a run on the board in the fourth but were shut down after that. The Bobcats (3-4) put two across in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for good.

Freddy Foshay earned the win, allowing just three hits and an unearned run in five innings of work. Kevin Collier picked up the save.

Nathan Blough took the loss to drop to 0-2 on the season, going 7.1 innings and allowing eight hits and four runs. Andrew Pipkin came in for Frostburg's final at-bat and got LVC out of a jam by inducing an inning-ending double-play.

The Bobcats got off to a fast start as Brett Mitchell on a passed ball and a balk after leading off with a single.

LVC tied the game in the fourth when Chris Schank reached on an error and stole second, then advanced on Joe Kopchick's fly-out. Joe Soupik singled to the left side to score Schank.

The FSU offense came alive in the fifth inning as John Micklus and Mitchell led off the inning with back-to-back singles. Andrew Derr's sacrifice bunt moved them up, setting up Allen Peake's two-run double down the left field line.

Benjamin Oberman tacked on the final run in the eighth when he singled in Peake.

The Dutchmen are slated to begin a seven-date homestand starting Saturday with a twinbill against Lancaster Bible College at 1 p.m.
