READING, Pa. - Albright College finished the game with a 13-0 run to pull away in the final moments of the game and sweep the season series, 73-61, from Lebanon Valley College Saturday night at the Bollman Center.
The Dutchmen (18-3, 3-3 CC) shot 50 percent from the floor for the game but failed to score over the final six minutes. The Lions (17-4, 5-1 CC) solidified their second-place status in the Commonwealth Conference, a game behind Messiah College.
Freshman Eryn Schultz tied a career-high with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting to lead LVC, and senior Jenna Gambino and freshman Suzie Noyes each pitched in with 12 points.
The first half was a fast-paced see-saw affair, and neither side was able to take more than a four-point lead. LVC ended the half with momentum and the lead, however, thanks to Schultz's three-pointer with four seconds left that put LVC up 36-34.
The Dutchmen started the second half by taking their largest lead of the game as Schultz's jumper and Noyes' layup put LVC up six with 15:31 to go. Albright responded with a 9-1 run, capped by Bre Dillon and Jessica McGiness three-pointers, to take a two-point lead.
Albright extended the lead to six after a McGiness three-point play with 9:03 remaining, but a jumper by Schultz sparked a 6-0 run to help LVC tie the game at 58 with 6:42 to go.
Both teams battled from there until a key moment with 3:24 left in the game. With Albright leading 63-61, Mallory Olsheski made a six-foot jumper and a foul was called away from the ball on Noyes, sending her out of the game with her fifth and giving Annie McMahon two foul shots.
McMahon made one to put the Lions up five, and LVC never scored again as Albright finished the game on a 13-0 run.
LVC went 0-for-5 from the floor and 0-for-3 at the line over the final 6:14 of the game.
Lebanon Valley stays on the road and heads to Widener University on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. tip.
