ANNVILLE, Pa. - Freshman Lori Lidlow sank a pair of game-winning free throws with eight seconds left in overtime and freshman Shelly Lobach picked off Samantha Ruby at the buzzer as Lebanon Valley College edged Lycoming College, 76-75, in overtime at LVC Gymnasium Tuesday.
The game, played in front of an arena record 1,310 fans on Think Pink night, featured a huge performance from LVC (17-2, 3-2 CC) junior Megan Bish, who came off the bench to score a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds. None of her buckets, however, were bigger than her game-tying three-pointer with 11 seconds left in regulation.
The Warriors (10-9, 1-4 CC) were paced by Allison Mock's 17 points. Freshman Andrea Hoover added a career-high 10 assists for LVC, and Lidlow scored 17 points.
Lycoming shot the lights out from beyond the arc, draining 11 of 24 for three. LVC controlled the glass, outrebounding Lycoming 43-32.
The two sides gave the nearly-capacity crowd plenty to cheer about as they went back and forth for the entire game. The contest featured 20 lead changes and 18 tied. Neither side led by more than seven.
After a see-saw battle in the second half, Lycoming appeared to take the upper hand late when Allison Mock's foul shots put the Warriors up five with 1:16 to go. However, Lidlow's 10-foot jumper fell with 57 seconds left, and after a missed Lyco layup, Bish came down and drained a three from the top of the arc to tie the game and send the crowd into a frenzy.
Mock missed the potential game-winning basket with three seconds left and the game went to overtime.
Lycoming struck first in the extra period on Mock's three-pointer, but Bish responded with a three-point play to tie the game at 70. Jessica Zezbee's jumper gave Lycoming the lead back before Lidlow hit a layup with 1:37 left to tie the game at 72.
Andrea Cooper converted a three-point play at the other end to give the Warriors a three-point lead, but Lidlow again came to the rescue, hitting a jumper with 53 seconds remaining to cut the Lycoming lead to one.
A frenetic final 10 seconds began with Andrea Hoover missing a pair of foul shots, but LVC came down with the rebound off her second. On the inbound, Lidlow was fouled by Zezbee, and converted both of her foul shots with eight seconds to go to put LVC up 76-75. Lycoming, with plenty of time for one shot, moved up court and took a timeout with five seconds remaining.
Out of the inbounds, however, Lycoming moved the ball just inside the arc but Lobach picked off Ruby with just a second left to seal the win for the Dutchmen.
LVC will return home Thursday to face Trinity (D.C.) College at 7:30 p.m.
