ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley College women's basketball team remained undefeated as it moved to 13-0 with a 63-31 rout of Hood College Tuesday night at LVC Gymnasium.
The Dutchmen (13-0) held the Blazers (2-11) to just three field goals in the first half as it raced out to a 43-10 halftime lead.
Against the team he beat to earn his first win at LVC last year, Head Coach Todd Goclowski reached another milestone - with 12 games left on the slate, the Dutchmen are assured a winning record, its first since 2004-05.
LVC spread the playing time around, with every player getting at least nine minutes. Freshman Lori Lidlow led all scorers with 14 points, four steals, and three assists, while freshman Suzie Noyes had 10 points. Junior Megan Bish scored eight and pulled in six rebounds.
Jen Willison paced the Blazers with 12 points, eight coming at the line.
Lebanon Valley never trailed as it went on a 24-5 run over the first 10 minutes of the game, then held Hood scoreless for nearly 10 minutes at the end of the first and beginning of the second.
The second half was sloppy on both sides, with neither team scoring until Lidlow's fastbreak layup at 16:19. The rest of the half was a turnover-filled, low-scoring affair, with LVC going 9-of-29 from the floor and Hood shooting 7-of-26. Lebanon Valley went 0-for-10 from beyond the arc in the second half alone.
The Blazers committed 22 turnovers and shot just 25 percent from the field. LVC, which coming in to the game was ranked third in the nation in fewest turnovers with just 13 per game, had 16. Lebanon Valley held a 49-27 advantage in rebounds.
Lebanon Valley heads to Rosemont College on Thursday for a 7 p.m. tip. The game will be its final non-conference tune-up before starting conference play next Tuesday at No. 7 Messiah.
