Last-Minute Arcadia Comeback Stuns Valley, 70-66

Box Score

GLENSIDE, Pa. - Arcadia University orchestrated a dramatic final-minute comeback, erasing a 14-point LVC lead as they won, 70-66, in men's basketball action Thursday night.

The Dutchmen (5-8) led by two with 1:07 left before the Knights' (4-6) Sterling Green hit a layup to tie the game, then converted three free throws with 46 seconds left to give Arcadia the lead for good.

Arcadia's Eric Elliot drained 25 points, including five three-pointers, while Kyle Enoch scored 15 for LVC.

After Green's layup tied the game at 62, LVC's Dan Hodge made a basket to retake the lead with 53 seconds left. At the other end, however, Green was fouled by Dan Dunkelberger while attempting a three-pointer, and made all three shots to put the Knights up a point with 46 seconds remaining.

Hodge missed a three-pointer seconds later, and after Eric Elliot hit a pair of free throws to put Arcadia up three, Enoch's jumper made it a one-point game with 16 ticks left. Arcadia's Blaise Pepitone made one of his two foul shots, giving LVC a chance to win with a three-pointer, but Enoch's bid was off the mark with five seconds left and Green sealed the win with two more free throws.

LVC had led by as many as 14 points early in the second half. Up 12 with 8:38 to go, the Knights went on a 7-0 run over the next minute and a half to cut the lead to five, and kept chipping away until Pepitone's trey put Arcadia up 59-57 with 4:29 left.

Lebanon Valley battled back with a three-pointer from Enoch and a Hodge layup, but Green took control of the game for Arcadia, scoring seven of the Knights' final nine points en route to a 12-point performance for the night.

Statistically, LVC shot a solid 55.3 percent to Arcadia's 37.5 percent, but the Dutchmen sent Arcadia to the line 30 times, with the Knights getting 20 points there. Arcadia turned the ball over just 10 times to LVC's 18.

Lebanon Valley will return home Monday to host Cortland State at 7 p.m.
