ANNVILLE, Pa. - Freshman Michelle Little served the first 15 points of game two and compiled six aces as Lebanon Valley College beat Lycoming College, 3-0 (30-21, 30-13, 30-13), in Commonwealth Conference volleyball action Wednesday.
The Dutchmen (12-6, 1-0 CC) dominated the match from start to finish over the Warriors (3-13, 0-1 CC), who were playing in their first-ever volleyball match as a member of the Commonwealth Conference.
Little took the ball to start game two, but her first serve resulted in a replay following an injury to a Lycoming player. Little tried again and ended up serving until LVC led 15-0, compiling six aces in the process. After Lycoming's second timeout, Little lost serve on an Emily Hopkins attack error, and Lycoming's Abby Myers served an ace right back off Little's receiving error.
The Dutchmen, however, had more than enough of a lead and were up 26-9 at one point before winning 30-13 on freshman Joelle Snyder's game-ending kill.
The third game featured more impressive serving, this time an eight-point streak by junior Erin Yost as the Dutchmen took a 13-4 lead. Lycoming took a timeout, but LVC went on a 5-0 run and led 22-7. Junior Margaret Prebula threw down the last of her match-high 13 kills to end the match.
Snyder and Hopkins each tallied 11 kills, with Snyder hitting .588. Senior Jill Miller had 15 digs and five aces, while freshman Emily Perkins put up 42 assists. LVC had an impressive 16 aces.
The Dutchmen are back in action next Tuesday, heading to Albright College at 7 p.m.
