BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley College volleyball team took Moravian College to the brink, but fell in five Wednesday night, 3-2 (31-29, 19-30, 30-19, 14-30, 15-11).
The Flying Dutchmen (7-5) came back from 2-1 down with an outstanding fourth game, but hit poorly in the decisive fifth game to drop the match to the Greyhounds (8-4).
Freshman Joelle Snyder led the way for LVC with 20 kills, while freshman Jess Raber, senior Jill Miller and junior Brandi Roth each had 17 digs. Junior Erin Yost and freshman Emily Perkins split setting duties, giving out 25 and 30 assists, respectively. Raber also contributed four blocks and Miller served up six aces.
Moravian needed extra volleyball to win the first game, 31-29, but the Valley stormed back to take the second game 30-19. Moravian won the third by the same score and was on the brink of winning, but the Dutchmen hit .459 with 20 kills and only three errors in game four to force the fifth game.
Unfortunately, as good as LVC's hitting was in the fourth, the fifth game yielded just three kills and five errors, and the Greyhounds hit .125 to take a 15-11 decision.
Lebanon Valley returns to action Friday at the York Tournament, taking on Alvernia College and Marietta College starting at 3 p.m.
