ANNVILLE, Pa. – For the second match in a row the Lebanon Valley College men's tennis team shut out its opponent, this time defeating Cabrini College 9-0 in a non-conference contest Wednesday afternoon at the LVC Tennis Courts.
Lebanon Valley, competing in its next-to-last dual match of the season, improved to 7-9 with the win, one match after beating Albright 9-0 on Friday. Cabrini fell to 7-7.
The Flying Dutchmen opened the match by sweeping the doubles competition. Senior Stu Hartman and sophomore Jared Zeigler won at No. 1 doubles while junior Shawn Becker prevailed at the No. 2 spot while pushing their season record to 13-7. Freshmen Jonathan Gingrich and Matt Hotchkiss recorded a victory at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Vargo and freshman Matt Grodzinski won at Nos. 1-3 singles, respectively, and both players improved to 14-5. Hartman was a winner at No. 2 singles while junior Zach Kaufman, Zeigler, and Becker won Nos. 4-6 singles, respectively.
Lebanon Valley competes in its final dual match on Tuesday, when it hosts King's College at 3:30 p.m.
