ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley had five double winners and the Flying Dutchmen defeated Susquehanna University 9-0 in Commonwealth Conference men's tennis action Friday afternoon at the LVC Tennis Courts.
Senior Erik Vargo won at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles while classmate Stu Hartman earned victories at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles. Winning at No. 4 singles and No. 1 doubles was sophomore Jared Zeigler, and junior Shawn Becker was triumphant at No. 5 singles and No. 2 doubles. Freshman Matt Hotchkiss added victories at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
In addition, freshman Matt Grodzinski won at No. 3 singles while classmate Jonathan Gingrich teamed up with Hotchkiss for a win at No. 3 doubles.
With his singles victory, Vargo passed Brock Hoover '03 for third on Lebanon Valley's all-time singles wins list. Vargo is now 51-16 for his career in singles play.
Lebanon Valley (4-6, 1-1 CC) returns to Commonwealth Conference action on Saturday, when it visits Messiah College for a 1 p.m. match.
