ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley swept the three doubles matches, then captured four of six singles contests en route to a 7-2 win over Eastern University in non-conference men’s tennis action and the Valley’s home opener Tuesday afternoon at the LVC Tennis Courts.
Senior Erik Vargo, sophomore Jared Zeigler, and junior Shawn Becker were all double-winners for Lebanon Valley (2-5).
In doubles action, Zeigler and senior Stu Hartman picked up an 8-3 win at the No. 1 slot while Vargo and Becker teamed up for an 8-2 at the second flight. Freshmen Jonathan Gingrich and Matt Hotchkiss added an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
Vargo and freshman Matt Grodzinski won at first and fourth singles, respectively, and both players pushed their record to 7-3 on the season. Zeigler captured a win at No. 5 singles while Becker prevailed at No. 6 singles.
Lebanon Valley returns to action on Thursday, when it visits York (Pa.) at 3 p.m. in another non-conference match.
