GLENSIDE, Pa. - Freshman Lori Lidlow tied the program single-game record for field goals as she drained 30 points on 13-of-17 shooting to lead Lebanon Valley College past Arcadia University, 92-61, Thursday night.
The Flying Dutchmen (6-0) are now off to their best start in modern history. Lidlow was unstoppable in the first half, going 9-of-11 with 22 of her eventual 30 points. She became the fifth Dutchman to knock down 13 baskets in a game while doing so in only 28 minutes of play.
Freshman Eryn Schultz added 11 points, as did junior Megan Bish. Freshman Andrea Hoover had an outstanding night at the point, dishing out seven assists and scoring six points. LVC's six freshmen combined for 61 of LVC's 92 points.
The Dutchmen never trailed after Lidlow scored LVC's first six points of the game. A Suzie Noyes three-pointer put LVC up seven just 1:41 into the game.
The Knights kept it close, however, over the next 10 minutes before Lebanon Valley went on a 10-0 run late in the half. The Dutchmen kept the lead in double-digits and went into the break with a 13-point cushion.
Arcadia didn't go quietly, and began the second half with three straight buckets to reduce the lead to seven. A trey by Schultz and a Mindy Bennett jumper put back up by 12 as part of a 13-2 run. The Dutchmen pulled away from there, ballooning the lead to 30 on Amie Bickert's three-pointer with 7:30 to go as they eventually won by 31.
Lebanon Valley shot 54.4 percent from the floor, including 7-of-13 from beyond the arc.
With her 13 field goals, Lidlow added her name to the record book along with some of the program's best. The feat was also accomplished by Monica Johnson '07, Susan DuBosq '96, Carla Myers '91, and Steph Smith '87.
LVC, at 6-0, are in the best opening stretch in program history, besting the beginning of the 2002-03 team that went 5-1 to start. That team ended up going 21-6 while winning the ECAC Southern title. With the exception of their 59-57 buzzerbeater victory over McDaniel College, all of LVC's wins have come by wide margins of 15 or more points.
Lebanon Valley returns home to Annville to face Wilkes University Saturday at 2 p.m.
