Ursinus Drops Men's Basketball, 81-59

Box Score

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley College men's basketball team hit the road for the first time and ended up dropping a non-conference game at Ursinus College Sunday, 81-59.

After scoring the first basket of the game, the Dutchmen (1-3) never led again as the Bears (2-1) poured on the offense.

Nick Shattuck paced Ursinus with 19 points and five boards, while Matt Hilton added 14 points, including four treys, and John Noonan pitched in 12.

Dan Hodge was a bright spot for LVC, scoring 15 points, while James Shinn came off the bench to score 13.

The Dutchmen played a better second half, but were ice-cold in the first, shooting 28.6 percent (8-of-28) from the floor. Foul shooting again hurt Lebanon Valley as the team shot 14-for-25 from the stripe. Ursinus shot 55.4 percent for the game.

The teams dueled over the opening 10 minutes, with the game tied four times as the lead changed hands. With 10:35 left in the half, Mike MacWright tipped in a missed Noonan three to start a 13-2 Ursinus run that the Dutchmen would never recover from. The Bears took a 39-26 lead into the break.

Ursinus continued to pull away in the second half, and the lead ballooned to 28 with a Noonan three-pointer 6:15 into the period. LVC tried to mount a comeback with a pair of layups from Shinn and Dan Dunkelberger, but the Bears again pulled away to take a 77-45 lead with 5:29 left.

LVC will visit Alvernia College Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
