READING, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley College women's tennis moved one step closer to a Commonwealth Conference title Thursday, blanking Albright College 9-0.
The Dutchmen (8-1, 3-0 CC) can clinch the Commonwealth regular-season title if they can overcome Elizabethtown College Friday afternoon in a continuation of an earlier match that was suspended due to darkness. The Blue Jays lead, 4-3, with two matches still in play in the third set.
LVC swept the doubles points against Albright, then came out firing on all cylinders in singles. Sophomore Sarah Grodzinski was perfect at No. 1, besting Alex Anderson 6-0, 6-0, and Leslie Sabas cruised at No. 2, 6-3, 6-0.
Kelly Moll won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, while Shayna Heintzelman eased past Brittany Herbert, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4.
Sarah Wagner won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Nicole Interdonato capped the sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles.
LVC will host the final two matches against Elizabethtown Friday at 4:30 p.m.
