ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley College volleyball team finished the regular season with a loss and a win Saturday, falling to Scranton before beating Gallaudet in a tri-match at the LVC Gymnasium.
The Dutchmen (21-8, 4-1 CC) have qualified for the Commonwealth Conference playoffs, and will host Messiah College Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the semifinals.
In the morning's first match, LVC fell to Scranton, 3-2 (23-30, 31-29, 30-15, 27-30, 15-13). The match featured a dramatic fourth game in which Erin Yost finished off the match with a pair of aces, and a fifth game which saw the Dutchmen come back from 12-4 down to bring the game within two.
Joelle Snyder and Margaret Prebula powered the Dutchmen in the five-setter, each throwing down 17 kills. Jill Miller had 25 digs.
Prebula also became the fifth player in program history to break the 1,000 career kills mark, and now has 1,016 kills.
LVC cruised to a 3-0 (30-24, 30-25, 30-28) win in the day's final match against Gallaudet, the regular-season champions of the Capital Athletic Conference.
Lebanon Valley will try to advance to the Commonwealth Conference championship game, hosting a conference semifinal against Widener Wednesday at 7 p.m.
