ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Elizabethtown College women's tennis team only needed to win a single set to claim the Commonwealth Conference regular season title, and it did so Friday, winning at No. 4 singles to beat Lebanon Valley College, 5-4, in a continuation of a postponed match from Sept. 22.
The two teams were making up an earlier match that was called due to darkness with LVC's Leslie Sabas playing Emma Smith at No. 2 and Charissa Nordall playing Minke Albers at No. 4. Both matches were in the third set, and Sabas led her match 4-2 while Nordall and Albers were tied at 4.
Sabas finished first and won her third set 6-3 to claim a 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 6-3 victory and tie the match at 4-4. Nordall and Minke then battled to an extra point, and Minke prevailed 7-5.
