Swimming Teams Lose to Widener in Dual Meet Finale

ANNVILLE, Pa. – In their final dual meet of the season, the Lebanon Valley College men’s and women’s swimming teams each lost to Widener University Friday evening at the LVC Swimming Pool.

The men’s team lost by a 142-54 count while the women’s team dropped a 123-79 decision. The men’s team finishes the season 7-6 while the women’s squad accumulated a 5-10 mark.

Sophomore Kevin Carney picked up the only victory of the night for the men’s team, taking home a first in the 200-meter IM in 2:22.88.

For the women’s team, sophomore Lauren Horst led the way with a first- and second-place finish. She won the 400-meter free in 5:11.86, less than a second shy of the school record, and took second in the 800-meter free in 10:53.02.

Horst also teamed up with freshman Rebecca Edwards, freshman Lisa Niethamer, and sophomore Allison Sweigart to win the 200-meter medley relay in 2:18.21.

Senior Lynn Donmoyer (50-meter free, 30.93) and sophomore Hope Roaten (100-meter butterfly, 1:20.99) each added a second-place finish for the Valley.

After a 13-day layoff, both teams return to the pool for the season-ending MAC Championships, held from Feb. 9-11 at the Catholic Youth Center in Wilkes-Barre.
