GLENSIDE, Pa. – Sophomore Kevin Carney reset his own school record for the second time this season in the 1,000-yard freestyle and the Lebanon Valley College men’s and women’s swimming teams swept a dual meet from host Arcadia University Tuesday evening.
The men’s team recorded a 117-73 victory while the women’s squad won 131-70.
Carney was timed at 10:36.13, as he also set an Arcadia pool record. In addition, Carney won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:01.72, a collegiate best.
Freshman Johnny Schoenberger was also a double-winner for the men’s team, which is now 7-5. He placed first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.31) and the 100-yard freestyle (53.09).
Freshman J.T. Grob added a victory in the 50-yard freestyle (22.46) while the 200-yard freestyle relay team of junior Jared Wilkerson, Schoenberger, sophomore David Gardner, and Grob won in 1:41.93.
The women’s team, which improved to 4-9, was led by sophomores Lauren Horst and Allison Sweigart, who won two events apiece. Horst prevailed in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:33.32) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:02.15, personal best) while Sweigart won the 200-yard IM (2:33.13) and the 100-yard freestyle (59.35).
Other individual winners were senior Lynn Donmoyer (50-yard freestyle, 28.66), freshman Lisa Niethamer (100-yard backstroke, 1:10.85), junior Megan Risser (1:20.66) and the 200-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Christina Schreiner, Horst, Niethamer, and Sweigart (1:53.25).
Lebanon Valley competes in its final dual meet of the season when it hosts Widener University on Friday at 5 p.m.
