MADISON, N.J. – The Lebanon Valley College men’s and women’s swimming teams combined to win 14 events as each team defeated host FDU-Florham in a dual meet Friday evening.
The men’s team, which won eight events, defeated the Devils 127-63 to improve to 6-4 on the season. The women’s squad captured six events and scored a 128-69 victory, bumping its record to 4-8.
Leading the way for the men’s team were sophomore Kevin Carney and senior Matt Woods, who won two events apiece. Carney touched the wall first in the 200 free (1:53.24) and the 500 free (5:14.09) while Woods prevailed in the 200 IM (2:25.72) and the 100 fly (1:01.19).
Other individual winners for the men’s team were junior Dan Wolford (1,000-free, 12:30.47) and freshman Johnny Schoenberger (50-free).
In relay action, Carney, freshman J.T. Grob, Woods, and junior Jared Wilkerson won the 200 medley in 2:00.00 while Kauffman, sophomore David Gardner, Schoenberger, and Grob captured the 200 free in 1:39.16.
The women’s team won four individual events while sweeping both relays.
Sophomore Lauren Horst won the 1,000-free in 12:34.60 while classmate Allison Sweigart took first in the 50-free (27.21). Freshman Lisa Niethamer added a win in the 200-IM (2:28.97) while junior Kathleen Lynagh claimed the 500-free in 6:52.25.
Freshman Rebecca Edwards, junior Megan Risser, senior Danielle Kern, and freshman Laurel Klappholz teamed up to win the 200 medley relay in 2:11.00 while Klappholz, Lynagh, Horst, and Sweigart were timed at 1:53.41 in winning the 200 free relay.
Lebanon Valley returns to the pool on Saturday, when it hosts Lycoming College in a dual meet starting at 1 p.m.
