Elizabethtown Hands Volleyball First Conference Loss

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.  – Lebanon Valley saw its seven-match winning streak come to end Tuesday evening, as host Elizabethtown College defeated the Flying Dutchwomen 3-0 (30-26, 30-25, 30-27) in Commonwealth Conference volleyball action.

Lebanon Valley (15-4, 2-1 CC), which also suffered its first Commonwealth loss of the season, received a match-high 13 kills from senior Natalie Goodfellow. Ashley Whitemarsh led Elizabethtown (13-2, 3-0 CC) with 12 kills.

The Dutchwomen were held to a season-low .045 hitting percentage for the night while the Blue Jays hit just .185.

Elizabethtown totaled 9.0 blocks, led by Kelly Downs’ 6.0 (three solo).

Junior Jill Miller came up with 18 digs for the Valley while Goodfellow had 17 digs and two blocks (one solo). Sophomore Brandi Roth added 11 digs while classmate Erin Yost (Boyertown, Pa./Brandywine Heights) handed out 28 assists.

Paige Tanner and Megan Monahan added 11 and 10 kills, respectively, for Elizabethtown.

Lebanon Valley takes a week off before returning to the court next Wednesday, when it hosts No. 1-ranked Juniata College at 7 p.m. in another Commonwealth Conference match.
