Women’s Tennis Tops Albright, Wins Fourth Straight

ANNVILLE, Pa.  – Lebanon Valley won all six singles matches after taking two of three doubles contests to defeat Albright College 8-1 in Commonwealth Conference women’s tennis action Tuesday afternoon.

Lebanon Valley (5-3, 2-2 CC), which won its fourth match in a row, won all six singles matches in straight sets. Sophomore Charissa Nordall won her sixth match in a row with a win at No. 4 singles to improve to 6-1 while freshman Sarah Grodzinski captured her fifth straight victory to push her record to 7-1 by prevailing at No. 2 singles.

Other singles winners were junior Leslie Sabas at No. 1, sophomore Kelly Moll at No. 3, sophomore Jan White at No. 5, and sophomore Sara Wagner at No. 6.

Sabas’ opponent retired in the first set with Sabas leading 5-2, as she picked up her 25th career singles victory to move into a tie with Jenny Larson ’06 and Amanda Lubold ’06 for fifth in school history.

Moll improved to 5-2 on the season with her victory while White stayed undefeated at 4-0.

Nordall and White also recorded an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, improving to 4-0 on the season, while Grodzinski and freshman Caitlin Bedford notched an 8-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles.

Lebanon Valley picks up its schedule on Wednesday, when it hosts Goucher College in a non-conference match starting at 3:30 p.m.
