ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men’s soccer team was defeated by Eastern University, 5-1, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
Eastern (6-3) built a 2-0 halftime lead, then made it 3-0 by the 52nd minute. Junior Ben Wagner cut the deficit to 3-1 in the 59th minute, when he took a feed from classmate Dan Pitonyak and scored his first goal of the season. But the Eagles put the game out of reach with a pair of penalty-kick goals.
Junior John Mentzer started in goal for the Dutchmen (3-5) and made five saves in 84:35 of action. Sophomore Tim Mehl played the rest of the way and stopped one shot. Mike Dorsch earned the win in goal for Eastern, turning aside three shots.
Lebanon Valley returns to action on Wednesday, when it hosts No. 2-ranked Messiah College in a Commonwealth Conference match at 4 p.m.
