Box Score
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Freshman Jeremy Bicking came off the bench to score the game-winning goal in the 37th minute, lifting the Lebanon Valley College men’s soccer team to a 2-1 win over DeSales University in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon at Herbert Field.
DeSales (2-2), ranked No. 7 in the Mid-Atlantic region by the NSCAA, scored first when David Ackley converted a pass from Randy Sturm on a direct kick in the seventh minute. Lebanon Valley (2-2) tied it up just over a minute later when junior Brian Reinhardt directed a corner from the left flank into the right side of the box to freshman Justin Hutchinson, who one-timed his first collegiate goal.
Bicking set the final score when, on a breakaway, he took a shot on goal, had it deflected by the goalie, then rebounded it in from the right side of the box.
Junior goalie John Mentzer made five saves to earn the win for the Dutchmen while Rusty Riedmiller stopped eight shots for the Bulldogs.
Lebanon Valley returns to action on Thursday, when it visits Franklin & Marshall College at 4:30 p.m. in another non-conference outing.
