WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – King's College defeated Lebanon Valley 4-1 in a rain-shortened, non-conference match and LVC's final dual match of the season on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior J.P. Henry earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles to provide Lebanon Valley (8-10) with its lone win of the day. The second and third singles matches were unfinished due to rain.
The No. 1 singles match pitted the Freedom Conference Player of the Year, Mike Portonova, against the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year, junior Erik Vargo. After winning his last 14 singles matches, Vargo lost for the first time since March 8, as Portonova recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win.
Lebanon Valley will close out its season with the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Singles and Doubles Tournament on Saturday and Sunday at Lehigh University.
