ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men's tennis team won two of three doubles matches, then claimed five of six singles contests en route to a 6-1 win Commonwealth Conference win over host Elizabethtown College Monday afternoon.
Junior Erik Vargo scored a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles for Lebanon Valley (7-7, 2-3 CC) for his 11th win a row while upping his record to 12-3.
Vargo also teamed up with sophomore Shawn Becker for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles. Senior J.P. Henry and freshman Jared Zeigler captured an 8-4 decision at third doubles as LVC claimed the doubles point.
Becker and Henry joined Vargo as double-winners. Becker won 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles while Henry was a 6-3, 6-4 victor at fifth singles. Junior Stu Hartman added a 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles while junior Zach Kaufman eked out a tight 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) victory at the third slot.
Lebanon Valley plays its Commonwealth Conference regular season finale on Thursday, when it hosts Moravian College at 3:30 p.m.
