After falling behind 2-0, the Flying Dutchmen came back to tie it with a pair of runs on four hits in the bottom of the first. Kelly led off with a double before freshman centerfielder Bert Malloy and sophomore catcher Chris Schank each followed up with an RBI-single.

With LVC trailing 11-2 in the bottom of the sixth, the Dutchmen pushed across a run when sophomore shortstop John Mentzer led off with a triple and scored two batters later on a single from junior first baseman Brad Brandt.
