BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Moravian College had four players reach double figures in scoring and the Greyhounds defeated Lebanon Valley 81-61 in Commonwealth Conference men’s basketball action Wednesday evening at Johnston Hall.

Moravian (7-15, 2-9), which snapped a five-game losing streak against LVC, shot 45.8% from the floor and was a perfect 17-for-17 at the foul line. Lebanon Valley (10-12, 4-7 CC) went 38.2% from the field and 50.0% (11-for-22) at the line.

Ryan Miller scored 13 of his team-high 18 points in the first half for the Greyhounds while Mark Franzyshen posted 14 points while going 9-for-9 at the foul line. Chris Earley and Zach Zsilavecz added 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Moravian.

Junior guard Jimmy Curran paced the Dutchmen with 20 points and four assists while shooting 6-for-11, including a 3-for-6 mark from beyond the arc. Junior forward Dave Kasyan recorded 12 points and eight rebounds for LVC while freshman guard Kyle Enoch tied a season-high with six assists.

The first half was extremely close, with two ties and eight lead changes. The Dutchmen led 8-3 a minute-and-a-half into the game, and that was the largest lead for either team until Moravian used a 7-0 run to take a 28-21 advantage with 5:43 left in the period. The ’Hounds took a 36-29 lead into the break.

Moravian pushed its lead to 11 (44-33) just under three minutes into the second half before back-to-back three-pointers from Curran and junior guard Hunter Bretschneider made it 44-39 with 16:35 left. A Franzyshen trey gave Moravian a 12-point lead, but a Curran lay-up and a Bretschneider three cut the gap to seven (53-46) with 13:03 remaining. But that’s when the Greyhounds went on a 9-0 run to open up a 16-point advantage with 10:56 to go. That run was the start of an 18-4 Moravian surge that made it 71-50 with 8:14 left, putting the game out of reach.

Lebanon Valley plays its home finale on Saturday, when it takes on Commonwealth Conference foe Juniata College at 1 p.m. on Senior Day.
