ANNVILLE, Pa. – Freshman Andy Goetz and sophomore Allison Sweigart won two events apiece, but the Lebanon Valley College men's and women's swimming both lost to Elizabethtown College in a dual meet Tuesday evening at the LVC Swimming Pool.
Lebanon Valley's men's team dropped to 3-3 on the season with a 118-85 loss while LVC women's squad saw its record dip to 2-5 with a 117-86 setback.
Goetz touched the wall first in the 200-meter freestyle (2:10.18) and the 400-meter freestyle (4:45.03) to lead the men's team, qualifying for the MAC Championships in the 200. Also winning for the Flying Dutchmen were sophomore Kevin Carney in the 200-meter IM (2:20.29) and freshman Johnny Schoenberger in the 100-meter freestyle (58.28 seconds). Carney also qualified for MAC's in the 100-meter breaststroke, finishing second in 1:17.96.
Sweigart posted winning times of 28.98 seconds in the 50-meter freestyle and 1:13.37 in the 100-meter butterfly. Sophomore Lauren Horst added a pair of MAC-qualifying performances for the Valley in the 200-meter freestyle and the 100-meter freestyle (1:05.07). Senior Danielle Kern also punched her ticket to MAC's in the 800-meter freestyle (10:49.04).
Lebanon Valley's women's team returns to the water on Saturday, Dec. 2, when it visits Millersville University at 1 p.m. Both the men's and women's teams will travel to Susquehanna University on Saturday, Dec. 9.
